5 Things The Angels Have Taught Me About Life

I glanced over at my bookshelf the other day, and sat amongst the books, trinkets, and other lovely things sat my Angel Cards. I thought to myself for a moment and then I tried to remember how long I've actually had each deck. Thinking about it, I've had my first deck, Angel Dreams by Doreen and Melissa Virtue, for close to 7 years now. I picked it up in a little gift shop on 17th Ave in Calgary. I couldn't remember the name of the store for the life of me, but I remember feeling like I had to take home that deck that day! Since then, the collection has taken up a lot more space, spanning to 5 decks, and trust me, I have a pretty good sized wish list for more, too (hahaha). After doing readings for so long now for myself, it was nice to think back and remember all of the wonderful messages and readings I have had and have done over the years! I learn something new with each reading, and am a firm believer that with each reading I do there is a message somewhere in there for me too -- even if I don't realize it at the time! Well since I'm here and now, I've decided to share some of that wisdom with all of you!

So here we go, these are the five things the Angels have taught me about life;

Number One. Patience.

Oh lordy, yes, yes they have. I'm a bad for this one sometimes and my close friends can attest. Generally I despise standing in lines, waiting for busses, that email or phone call to come. It's so bad sometimes I even get antsy or upset. However! Through some time and practice, it's become a lot easier for me! I try to remember that patience is perhaps one of the most important things we should all practice, as it will help us to be happier, more understanding of the people around us, and avoid unnecesary emotional upsets on our part. What are we in such a rush for anyways? No need to get worked up! Changing my lifestyle around a bit here and there has helped tremendously when it comes to diffusing that little angry face, also when I'm feeling those impatient feelings. Walking or biking to work is awesome, it means no traffic to sit in, no sweaty sardines on the bus, no sad Earth Angels. And thats just one example of how you can work on being more patient! Another awesome way is to practice deep breathing, or visualizing yourself in your favorite happy place (I do this when I'm in that long line at the grocery store, wishing I'd had the smarts to avoid the after-work rush).

Number Two. Compassion and Empathy.

I wanted to make this subject #2 in my list because I feel it directly correlates with patience. Having compassion and empathy for others is related to patience in the sense that you have to put yourself in the other persons shoes for a moment. Yes, the mom with her crying baby in front of you in line might be annoying, but maybe she barley slept last night, her child has been fussy and she can't find her wallet to pay. Now, it might not be appropriate to offer her help with her baby, but you can definitley decide to let go of the impatience you feel standing behind her. Understanding that every other person on this planet goes through the same trials and tribulations we go through on a daily basis, albeit slightly different depeding on where in the world you live and what your lifestyle is. We all have struggles. We all have places to be that we're late for. And we're all only people trying to do the very best we can with what we have. Understanding that anger and frustration are things we create and manifest from our ego inside of ourselves, we can choose to only accept loving feelings like compassion and empathy for others and practice operating with our higher self. There's no use for the negatives, toss those low vibrations out the window!

The less energy we feed into those negative emotions, the less we will attract situations to us that bring those out in us. Which leads me into my next point,

Number Three. Setbacks can actually be blessings in disguise!

But.. but... what do you mean not getting approved for that loan is a good thing??? He was my soulmate! How will I ever love again? No one will ever be as good! Getting evicted from my apartment!? But where will I live?! --- These are things I hear from clients and friends all the time. I just want to hold all of your hands and tell you not to worry, because with faith and trust, one door closing is most definitley the push from nature to open up another dusty window. That window might need some fixing up, but the fresh air coming in sure feels nice...

Sometimes in our lives, we have to get rid of the things that are no longer serving us to allow room for the better things to come. I like to think of life as a sort of pie chart, with each area filled in carefully down to the exact percentage. There's a teeny side lesson I'd like to throw in here about balance as well. Specifically meaning that you have to ensure that all of your areas in your pie chart are balanced in order to feel healthy and happy in all ways. If there is an area, perhaps a very large area, like a relationship, but that relationship is unhealthy this will make everything else in the pie feel a little off. (Kinda cool to think of our lives as pie! Now I'm hungry..) The same goes for losing an apartment, job or any other kind of loss. There can be a lot of things burdening our lives, and when we pray for solutions it helps to restore balance. However, sometimes when our prayers are answered, they aren't answered in the ways we imagined them. It reminds me of an old saying, "Beggars can't be choosers". We can ask for help, but we can't decide what date, time and place we want that exact help to happen at! There is a divine plan in place for each of us and Heaven always answers our prayers in the best possible way for everyone involved in the situation (yes, bad guys, too!), even if we can't yet see it at the time.

Using a living situation as an example, you've prayed for a new home because the landlord is horrible, but you haved stayed stuck in place because of fears of change or lack of opportunity. Going forward, it is helpful to try to see the ways the eviction was actually something good for you. You might not have had the courage to remove yourself from that situation because of fears that you might not find the right place, something else might be too expensive, or you might not have the time to view new places. Now the universe is giving you a little push in the right direction, and guiding you to take the steps that you need to take to make whatever you are asking for a reality! Adding to that, we can't expect Heaven to do all the work for us! We have to follow our intuition and make the moves we think we need to make. And don't worry, because even if you make what seems like the wrong decision at the time, you are watched over and cared for, and something better will present itself to you. A prayer I like when it comes to setbacks is, "Bring me this or something better, God. I trust in your divine plans and know that my material needs will be taken care of always. I allow you to help me (describe situation) and I know that I am loved. Amen"

Number Four. Stop Worrying!!

This has perhaps been the most important lesson for me, and it is one I am still constantly learning. I am queen of the worry warts, and even though I don't always want to worry, I can't help it!! So there I was, worried about this, worried about that, worry worry worry all the time! And then I was wondering why the things I worried about would come true, why nothing good would happen etc. I'm sure you can see where this is going.

What I have learned is that worrying is a form of praying. Except you are praying for the things you don't want to happen, to happen. Like we talked about in #2, the more energy and time you infuse into a negative situation, the more likely you are to attract that outcome to it. But never fear! You can easily reverse this by turning your worries into positive prayers. Instead of worrying and obsessing about a situation, catch yourself, and make the conscious choice to release those worries and fears to the Angels. Say a prayer asking them to help you release your worries, and to send loving energy to the situation. Instantly you will feel uplifted! The great thing about this is that you can literally pray at any time of day, any place you're in! You don't have to say it aloud for it to count. Get it all out on paper if this helps you too. Release those feelings you have, and then pray for solutions to the problem. Instead of obsessing and worrying if you will get that job, simply pray that you want this job, and talk to your angels about it. Tell them your desires, what you are excited about, stressed about, sad about, happy about. Trust that if you are meant to be in that position with that company, you will be guided to it.

A great rule of thumb-- if you can't do anything about it at this present moment, stop worrying about it. Prayer and the power of our thoughts is an incredible thing, should we decide to utilize it to help us for the better.

Number Five. Love everyone (including yourself)

Love is a lot more than a four letter word. Love is in all of us, and we have enough to spread! We must try our best to look at those around us and see the best in them. This goes hand in hand with compassion, empathy, patience.. just to name a few. Focusing our lives around love will only generate loving outcomes to anything we are desiring, and will attract more positive and loving people in our sphere. But be cautious however, and make sure that you are not giving away all of your loving energy to someone or something that isn't giving you anything back. This is a big part of self care and boundaries in relationships of all kinds. There must always be an exchange of energy to feel balanced.

A great quote,“Be an earth angel, and look for love behind the actions of everyone you meet today. Whenever you look for love, you will always find it.” ~ Doreen Virtue

Enriching our lives with that love energy, encourages us to be better people and treat those around us with only the upmost respect and care, always. The higher we can raise our vibrations, the healthier and happier we will be and that will benefit everyone around us!

I know we're at number five, but there is one last point I feel goes right along with love energy. And that point is faith; having it, and trusting that we will get what we need from the universe exactly as we need it. Faith in ourselves that we can accomplish anything we desire, and faith in others that they will be taken care of as well. Faith is our love and unwaivering trust in the universe, ourselves and everything around us, and we can rest assured knowing that all will be well no matter what.

I sincerly hope that you've enjoyed reading about what I've learned over the years, and can understand and apply any of these things I've learned to your own lives! I wish you the best of luck in finding your way, and go ahead and treat yourself today! A nice slice of pie sounds good to me right now...

Angel Blessings
